Richard Wright’s Turner Prize Winning Art In Pictures

THE Turner Prize has been won by Richard Wright. Anorak was there to see Wright collect his prize – a Doodle Tube filled with sick – at the Tate Britain. Wright, who lives and works in Glasgow, is the oldest winner of the Turner Prize. He’s 49. The limit for the prize is 50. Why there should be a limit on an art prize is odd. Are there no decent artist over 50? Should the Turner Prize comes with the ages of all artists written on a paper strip on the bottom of each piece, like on Tony Hart’s gallery. It; might be rubbing but he’s only 37. Be fair. Wright’s winning entry took in an intricate Gold leaf painting, a kind of gilded Rorschach Test that any number of curry houses should use on their walls in flock. Diners may see a beer, two beers or lots of beers and a lamb bhuna. Says the artist: “I like the idea of there being nothing left when I’m gone.” Here it is in pictures:
