joe-the-climbX FACTOR: Joe McElderry beats Olly Murs to win the top telly talent show and to him the spoils. Christmas is coming, so Joe is a certainty to score the Christmas number 1. Next time you see Joe he’ll covered in twinkling fairy lights and smiling in a snow globe. Anorak rounds-up the papers:

The Sun (front page): “TINSELTOON – Simon’s £5m Hollywood plan for Joe

Is the real prize of winning the X Factor a one-way ticket out of South Shields? A wrench to leave his home but Geordie Joe – the UK’s Joe-nas Brother – will be well rewarded. That’s five million pounds. As the Daily Mail says on its front page:

“Joe’s £1million X Factor moment”.

And there is money to be made. No sooner has ITV celebrated £70m in earnings from the show than Dermot O’Leary is shoving Joe’s new CD into the camera’s lens. The CD of Joe singing The Climb costs 29p at Asda. But the X Factor says buy it at Play.com where it costs 99p.

The Express has more numbers. It says the cash prize for the winner is £150,000. Is that enough to leave South Shields? What does £150,000 get your in London? A big string of tinsel – but you need more to eat.

The Mirror has more numbers. The Mirror says “up to 17million watched” Joe win on Sunday night. The Sun says 20m watched Joe win.

But the biggest sensation is on the Star’s front page:

“JOE TO MAKE SWEET MUSIC WITH CHERYL.”

No, Joe and Chezza are not to embark on a romance. The X Factor is all about Cheryl Cole, so news is that Cheryl Cole and Joe are to record a duet.

Joe McElderry has one year to make it work. The clock starts now…
