brittany-murphy-monjackBRITTANY Murphy’s has died and the tabloid media continues to stare at her widower, the “cloudy” Simon Monjack. He’s been talking with People magazine:

In pictures: Brittany Murphy (1977-2009)

“These rumors that she was anorexic? It’s crazy. She was slim but that was her natural physique. This is what’s killing all of us? How did it happen? Her mum, myself and her family, we want to know why we lost our baby.”

Murphy’s physique is a matter of public debate on the Huffington Post, where readers get:

Brittany Murphy’s Weight: Eating Disorder Denials Despite Changing Shape

Young woman grows up and body shape changes – read all about it!

As her career took off her weight plummeted while her chest was bigger than ever, she dyed her hair blonde, capped her teeth and appeared to have had plastic surgery although she repeatedly denied having been under the knife. As she brushed off persistent rumors that her ever-shrinking form was the result of an eating disorder.

Persistent rumours that thanks to the tabloid media talking about the rumours it reported as rumour persist. Having been killed by thinness and swine flu, Murphy is now killed by drugs and fame. Still, no one has topped this loaded gem from TMZ:

Ed Winter from the L.A. County Coroner’s Office tells TMZ foul play is not suspected at this time.

Amy Heckerling, who directed Brittany Murphy in her breakthrough film Clueless is talking about her:

Q: WERE THERE WARNING SIGNS ABOUT BRITTANY?

A: “You know, everybody’s shaking their heads and going ‘drugs,’ of course. I don’t know what was happening on the last movie. I know that, you know, she seemed to go through a change, you know, on ‘Clueless.’ Maybe she felt like she was not the, like, skinny, pretty girl, you know? And then the next few movies she was, you know, thinner, blonde, you know, at MTV Awards and all sorts of things like that, and going out with Eminem and Ashton Kutcher, and, you know, suddenly got more into that whole glamorous scene… I think she felt the pressure to become a different sort of commodity to survive in show business, and I think it was awful.”

But Brittany Murphy died from “natural causes”. Mr Monjack is filling in the details:

The day before she died, he said, his wife was ill and stayed in bed all day. She was suffering from laryngitis, which she treated with herbal tea, ginger and lemon. She was on herbal remedies that wouldn’t speed up her heart. There was nothing here that could endanger her. There was prescription medication in the house for her female time and some cough syrup. That was it.”

So not a drugs overdose as has been hinted at by speculating media. Says Monjack:

“I can get rid of that one right now.”

He adds that, “One of the saddest things is that Clara [a cat] has looked everywhere for Brittany and can’t find her.”

We’ve heard from the person who knew her best. But still, the media only hears what it wants to:

“A lot of people weren’t surprised to hear about [the death of] someone who for years was rumored to have problems with substance abuse,” E! gossip columnist Marc Malkin told ABCNews.com. “You saw the photos of her looking painfully thin? In this industry where there’s smoke, there’s fire. When I heard it, I was sad but not 100 percent surprised.”

Oh, how they all knew. ABC goes onto to report:

According to the coroner documents obtained by TMZ, Murphy’s medications included Topamax (anti-seizure meds also to prevent migraines), Methylprednisolone (anti-inflammatory), Fluoxetine (depression med), Klonopin (anxiety med), Carbamazepine (treats Diabetic symptoms and is also a bipolar med), Ativan (anxiety med), Vicoprofen (pain reliever), Propranolol (hypertension, used to prevent heart attacks), Biaxin (antibiotic), Hydrocodone (pain med) and miscellaneous vitamins.

Er, no. These were not “Murphy’s medications”. These were medications allegedly found in Murphy’s house. Whether the star took them or not is a matter for the coroner’s toxicology report. And, in ant case, all the alleged drugs are legal.

But they are not listening. Gawker follows its potted destuction of Mr Monjack by calling him a “suspected villain”. No evidence of any wrongdoing. No evidence of any foul play. No evidence of anything other than pain and hurt. Says Mojack’s mother:

I was up at two o’clock in the morning talking to him last night. He’s not good at all. It’s such a shock.”

Meanwhile, a voracious media feed on Brittany Murphy’s remains…
