Election 2010: On Pakis And Coun Benson

by | 15th, January 2010

IN the run-up to the General Election, you’d think Tories would know better than to behave like eveyone who doesn’t vote for them wants them to behave. Here’s “Coun Benson” and his “Pakis”:

Reader Bat E Bird writes:

“In the report it says that Grahame Wharton, chairman of the forum asked officers as well as borough and town councillors, including Coun Benson, what was wrong with Colne.

It is alleged that Coun Benson responded by saying:

“The problem with Colne is that there are too many takeaways.

“And too many Pakis, that’s why people don’t come to Colne.” “

“But Coun Tony Beckett, Pend-le’s Tory Leader, said: “Smith Benson has said he’s sorry and that he did not realise it would cause offence.”

As she says:

I hate to think what he would have said if he was causing offence on purpose.

We say that calling him “Coun Benson” in the Lancashire Telegraph adds another layer of horror.
