Madeleine McCann: Jack Dee, Harry Potter, Fiona Phillips And Danie Krugel’s Matter Orientation System

danie-krugel-2MADDIE WATCH – Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann, Kate McCann and Gerry McCann: Jack Dee, Harry Potter, a fundraising dinner and on a beach with Danie Kruge.

News in the Express is that “COMEDIAN Jack Dee has helped to raise £45,000 to keep up the search for Madeleine McCann.” What did the “COMEDIAN” do to raise the money – a sponsored laugh?

He played auctioneer at an event to mark the 1,000 days since she disappeared in May 2007. Among the prizes were flights donated by Virgin boss Sir Richard Branson and signed Harry Potter books.

Sounds good. Any other money raised?

Maddie’s parents Kate and Gerry welcomed 180 celebrities and supporters to the £150-a-head gala dinner in Kensington, west London, last week.

That’s £27,000 more. Says the Express:

The £90,000 raised will be split between the Maddie Fund and two other missing people’s charities.

That’s £45,000 plus £27,000 less cost of food and drinks and rooms equals…£95,000.

The McCanns’ spokesman Clarence Mitchell said yesterday: “It was a fantastic evening and showed the depth of support that Kate and Gerry have.”

So. The money will be spent on finding the innocent child. But who to hire for the job. The Daily Star tells readers:

SLEUTH: I CAN FIND MADDIE

A FORMER cop claims he has identified the area where he says Madeleine McCann is buried. South African Danie Krugel says it is just 500 yards from the holiday apartment in Praia da Luz, Portugal, from where Maddie disappeared.

That name rings a bell. Oh, Danie Kruge, the top cop who in October 2007 gave us this:

NEWS OF THE WORLD front page: “Maddie was alive on beach”

“A renowned international manhunt expert, dubbed The Locator, sensationally revealed he has uncovered a telltale DNA trail left by snatched toddler Maddie McCann”

I spent four nights in July carrying out my searches. I’ve been able to trace where Madeleine was in the resort and have drawn a map which has been given to the police.

“I can’t reveal details as I don’t want to alert anyone who might try to disturb the scene. But I believe I’ve traced where she was taken that night and now it’s down to police to use their search experts to do the rest. The area to which my investigation led me is a difficult one to search”

What were the chances of finding Our Maddie with his Matter Orientation System?

Verenda Gouws says: “Don’t trust him.” Her son went missing. She gave Krugel a hair from her son’s razor. Says she: “I can’t say this machine doesn’t work – but I know for a fact it didn’t work for us”

Did he find Our Maddie? In December 2007:

BODYFINDER DRAWS BLANK” – Disappointing news for those pinning your hopes on Danie Krugel – aka The Locator – finding Madeleine McCann. His Matter Orientation System uses GPS technology and DNA samples. The McCanns gave him a hair from their daughter’s head. He went to work. But – shock of shocks -nothing. “I have done my best,” says Krugel.

Then in July 2008:

Former South African police superintendent Danie Krugel has been quietly working on the Maddie case—with the consent of her parents, Gerry and Kate McCann, using the Matter Oriented System (MOS) equipment he has developed.

Now:

Krugel told the Daily Star Sunday: “If they want me to go with them I will.

“I’m convinced they will find her. I will do whatever I can to help. That area needs to be properly searched. If it means training up officers from Scotland Yard in how to use the technology, I will do that. There needs to be a proper team of experts.”

But Krugel is the “sleuth” – what more experts are needed?

Finally a few words from Fiona Phillips in the Mirror:

NEVER GIVE UP

I attended An Evening For Madeleine 1,000 Days On on Wednesday. It’s that long since Madeleine McCann was abducted while on holiday in Portugal.

Every reports reported on Anorak.

It’s that long – though it must seem like an eternity – that Kate and Gerry McCann have suffered the greatest sadness there can ever be. The loss of their beautiful daughter lives with them every moment of every day.

Cruel. Sad. Tragic. But is it the greatest sadness there can ever be? Anyone in Haiti care to join in? But it’s not a competition – that’s just what the media turns it into, a battle for column inches and mawkish care.

Kate told friends, supporters and fundraisers: “I can’t speak too much about Madeleine, otherwise I’ll be in a heap.” She did say how much “Madeleine is still loved, she is still missed and we want her back so much”.

And we need to now this because..?

Kate and Gerry paused to compose themselves several times. After a moving video – reminding us of the search for Madeleine – had the whole room in tears, Gerry’s voice broke as he said: “It’s so painful watching that.” Their message was: Don’t give up on Madeleine or the hundreds of other missing children.

It’s good message. But how does it help their daughter get found, or the authorities helps learn that occurred? Madeleine McCann: a child is missing. Still missing.
