World Famous Detective To Track Down Madeleine McCann On TV

poirot-suchetMADDIE WATCH – Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann – GREAT news is that a top detective who always gets his man is on the case and is right now involved in the hunt for the media’s Our Maddie – as ‘TVLand’ writer Tim Oglethorpe (how dy’er get the job?) tells Mirror readers:

“Poirot plot risks wrath”

First it was Coronation Street, now it’s Poirot heading for trouble over a storyline.

Poirot that work of fiction, and Our Maddie, the painfully real story of a flesh and blonde girl gone missing?!

The Belgian ‘tec features in Murder On The Orient Express – which begins with the abduction of a young girl – chillingly similar to the real-life Madeleine McCann case.

So she was abducted. Proof at last. As for the plot:

Poirot star David Suchet defends ITV’s decision to screen the film, saying: “This is taken from Agatha Christie’s novel and we feel it important to demonstrate the wickedness of one of the central characters. This is Poirot totally out of his comfort zone, in a story which is both challenging and gritty.”

Taking the fat Belgian detective and sticking him on a train full of chocolate and pillows is taking him out of his comforts zone… What’s his comfort zone – Christina Hendricks’ bosom?

Corrie could also court controversy by featuring a plot in which six-year-old Simon Barlow disappears while on holiday with his grandparents in Blackpool.

Why is that controversial – does Ken shag him to death in the interval?

Street bosses dropped a missing child story three years ago, in the wake of Madeleine’s abduction in Portugal.

Yeah. And it was a hideous story back then, too. Fact and fiction – can you spot the difference? If not, best seek professional help, or read the Mirror
