Fat Children Should Not Be Cut Up, Says Expert

tam fry3 Fat Children Should Not Be Cut Up, Says ExpertTHE War on The Fat continues through Kevin Smith – too wide for the sky – to Sheffield Children’s Hospital, where two boys have had gastric bands fitted.
To help the lads recover the Mirror screams:

“18ST BOYS GET FAT OPS ON NHS”

Sheesh! How long must be wait until chocolate bars, crisps and fizzy pop cans are made to carry vouchers leading to private health car, or for a tax on fat?

The best bit about this story, however, is not the picture of the topless boy on the Mirror’s cover – an odd response to the Sun’s shot of Ashley Cole in his knickers – but the reintroduce of your favourite man of nominative determinism TAM FRY.

Tam Fry of the National Obesity Forum (a round table) is not a doctor, but with no media on speed dial, the Mirror makes do:

“For young people I think surgery is totally inappropriate… To put this into context, it’s not a good idea to cut children up.”

What about a French trimmed rack of boy?

“You are taking a real risk with this surgery. Once you’ve had it you have to stick to rigid guidelines about what you can eat for the rest of your life. Otherwise you can do a lot of damage.”

Hear that, kids, especially you two fatties resting up after major surgery? Fry has more:

“There are instances when the size of the child is so life threatening that not to operate might be more dangerous.”

In other news, you’ll believe a fat person can fly
