The Strange Tale Of Sydney’s Jihadi Five

portmeirionAN interesting little tale is related in The Age, Melbourne this morning…it’s half a day ahead of most of Europe.

Five men all said to be Sydney jihadists have been jailed for up to 28 years for plotting crimes of violence, presumably involving death and destruction, (but the judge said he could not be sure); they were found guilty last year and were sentenced at the New South Wales Supreme Court today.

The trial seems to have something to do with a counter terrorist operation. The Judge said all five had ”an intolerant and inflexible fundamentalist religious conviction”. Jihad is a specifically Islamic concept. Holy War.

The newspaper’s reporting of this case reads oddly and many may find it worrying.
