Paul L, I disagree the French Police didn’t take it seriously. If they hadn’t taken the picture they saw seriously, they would not have bothered sending it to the Porguese Police saying they thought it resembled Maddie and obviously they would want a response back.

Even if they re-opened the case, is there be enough man-power to review all the leads over the last two years that were filed away,least of all investigate them all?

With all due respect, would your cops allow the PJ to barge onto their turf to investigate the supposed sighting in the US?
These cases are all clearly in the jurisdiction of other Forces, who didn’t seem to take them seriously, though I assume and hope that the French Gendarmerie are investigating the abuse on internet.

Have to admit I agree with you over this file, and just about with the case too.
I think the PJ should reopen it, and under complete secrecy just get on with it.
Its had far too much publicity oxygen, and nothing is resolved, and that could be as a result of the publicity.
Lets hope lessons learned for when the next untended child goes missing.

If the French police have found out the childs name I hope they managed to catch the creeps that were doing this. However it doesn’t seem relevant to Madeleine’s case.

These people want everything to suit their own agenda.

And why, please, do they still refuse to get the case re-opened? I’d like Cheryl to attempt an explanation of what frightens them so much.

Lieutenant Emilie Moreau of the French police should be investigating whether it was Madeleine or not don’t you think. If a child ANY child is used in this way it shouldn’t make any difference WHO the child is.

And please remember that these sightings were not in Portugal they were out of the PJ’s juristiction. Do you think that if a child went missing from the UK and was spotted in Australia the British cops could just go over there and investigate?

So how do we know that the PJ didn’t follow up these leads that we are being told about.

Do you think the PJ are that stupid and lazy or too busy with their boozy lunches to actually care about a little girl? You seem to have a very low opinion of them and how the hell do you know what detail they were looking for in the pics?

I am pretty sure that they would have done their best to investigate any of these ‘sightings’ if there was even the slightest chance it could have been Madeleine. How many sightings did they investigate? How much time was wasted looking into the ones we know about? You only have to look at the second paragraph above to see she’s been spotted all over the world.

A police officer from France sees a photo of a little girl being sexually abused on a website and tells the Portugese Police “we think the girl looks like Maddie.” Pavia replies: “There is nothing relevant. The girl does not physically resemble Madeleine.” No doubt in my mind that little girl being sexually abused would not physically resemble the same picture of a healthy, laughing, smiling Maddie everyone has seen including Portugese Police. Is that all they were looking for in any pics sent to them, to see a picture of that sweet, healthy, laughing little girl as she looked before she was possibly abducted? Considering Pavia testified that they think she is dead and made it a point to read part of a missive from the UK telling them to investigate the parents as suspects, I have to question just how closely did they look at any pictures sent them.

No doubt most sightings reported are from those people who truly think they saw her but what we think we see is not necessarily what we see. But if another Police Department saw something that gave them enough reason to foward a picture and letter then that should have given solid cause to investigate closely what that Police Department saw with their open mind.

Please McCanns stop slagging off the Portuguese police – with whom you resolutely refused to co-operate.

Why not use your famous PI – Mr Edgar? You pay him enough…but, oh yes, he makes up a huge fuss about “suspects” – like the Victoria Beckham lookalike at Barcelona – and then doesn’t even bother to interview witnesses, suspects, passers-by, or indeed anyone at all in Barcelona.

The police obviously thought it irrelevant so why is her picture being shown to the world. Don’t citizens have any privacy.

These girls are of a “type” and there must be hundresds of thousands who share
that look – hair, big eyes, big smiles, etc

But then I realised that the process would probably be painful, what with the being reduced down in order to fit into the bottle aspect and then there’s the application of suitable means of sterilisation to cut back on the botulism front.

So that’s me off the McCanns Christmas card list…
