Madeleine McCann: Singing In Canada, Pleading In Austria And Get The Gypsies

by | 5th, March 2010

MADELEINE McCann – Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann – gypsy snatchers, Maria Alice dos Santos Silveira, Jorge Vitorino Cabral Martins and Yvone Albino, Maddie in Canada, Maddie in Austria and Our Maddie is a press release for Hanover Commincations…

Daily Star (front page): “MADDIE IS SEEN ALIVE ON THE TELLY

This is “shock new evidence”.

Has Our Maddie got a TV show in some remote corner of the world, like Dunedin?

VIEWERS wept when footage of a girl who looks just like Madeleine McCann singing in a school choir flashed up during a TV news bulletin.

You’d cry too. At least they weren’t playing the recorder.

Canadian broadcasters were stunned when distressed callers phoned in claiming they had accidentally filmed the youngster the world had been searching for.

What – Our Maddie hade made from Portugal to Canada and was now giving full throat to Silent night on the telly? So far, Madeleine has also been seen in: New Zealand, Italy, Sweden, Portugal, Spain, Morocco, Majorca, Belgium, Bosnia, France, Australia, Brazil, Wales, Malta, Italy and Dorset.

Our Maddie was “one of thousands of schoolkids taking part in Canada’s nationwide synchronised singathon. Immediately after the event was broadcast a woman from Toronto, convinced it was Maddie, phoned in “very upset and crying’’.

A woman? One woman? Thought it was “viewers” in the plural? Anyhow it was a good spot, nonetheless.

A blonde girl was shown singing during CBC’s Newsworld programme the day after the second anniversary of Maddie’s disappearance.

So, with pictures and video of the missing child all over the news media, Our Maddie chose to secrete herself in a choir and go on the telly?

She looked just like an image FBI artists had produced of how the missing child would look, aged six.

How the missing child might look aged 6

TV bosses cut the clip from later bulletins on 4 May, 2009, after shocked viewers called police.

There the Star goes with those “viewers” again. It all sounds credible, of course. And there is work to do – has anyone investigated these “bosses” who “cut the clip”? As we learnt yesterday, everyone is a suspect until they have been checked by the McCanns private detectives and made not a suspect.

“After Dave Edgar [the crack detective] sent his report to the Portuguese police our investigators heard nothing more. It is now clear from the files that very little was done to rule these people out as suspects.”

Now back to the spotter:

Detectives seized the footage and filed it among 2,000 pages of evidence, which have been archived since the case was shelved by Portugal’s law chiefs in July 2008. The DVD, gathering dust on a police HQ shelf… Police did not trace the girl.

Portuguese police did not identify a child that a woman in Canada thought looked like Madeleine McCann might look aged 6? Hold the front page! Get a load of how crap those Portuguese police are. This was…

“…one of hundreds of ignored leads since police gave up”.

Another was a Norwegian holidaymaker claiming he saw Madeleine begging for help at the Landzeit Hotel in St Valentin, Austria, three months after her disappearance.

To Austria!

The man and his wife were dining when a young girl on the arm of a man walked past their table and said: “Help me!’’ Police checked the hotel’s database but had no joy.

But, then, she wasn’t there was she – Our Maddie was, allegedly, in an orange grove with the gypsies:

Yesterday we revealed the McCanns’ private investigators are probing the possibility she was held in an orange grove shack by “gipsy’’ child-snatchers in Silves, 30 miles from Praia Da Luz, Algarve. But a cleaner and teacher deny any involvement.

These apparent and alleged “gypsy child snatchers” have names, and jobs: one is cleaner, another a teacher.. To your lawyers: Maria Alice dos Santos Silveira, Jorge Vitorino Cabral Martins And Yvone Albino.

Oh, and if it’s not the three innocent people mentioned above in connection with the disappearance of a inncoent child – sorry, guys –  (there is no evidence linking them to Our Maddie) it might be some gypsies, or a British mnan in his 30s:

The case files reveal detectives ignored UK police warnings about a suspicious British worker, in his 30s, at a sister resort to the Ocean Club, where Madeleine disappeared…

They urged them to investigate after a holidaymaker accused him of inappropriate sexual behaviour after going into their nine-year-old daughter’s room.

How old is Raymond Hewlett, the “Maddie paedo”?

In other news, Our Maddie is now a press release for Hanover Communications – thanks for readers for this one. Tasteful stuff:

McCann Family

We helped the McCann family deal with the media storm which surrounded them on their return from Portugal in September 2007. From scratch, we created a comprehensive media handling package within six hours which enabled us to handle 850 media calls in the first week. By giving journalists positive stories to report, coverage turned from hostility to the McCanns to sympathy about their ordeal. This campaign won the crisis communication category at the 2008 CIPR awards.

Well, at elast the innvoent shicld di nto go missing in van.

Madeleine McCann is missing – still missing. There are no suspects. The parents are innocent. There are no clues…
