School Uniform Outfitters Harrods Turns Away Hampshire Scouts Group For Wearing Uniform

THE 1st Bordon Scout Group, from Hampshire, was going to Harrod’s to presumably earn credits for their shopping badge, but was refused entry unless they removed their neckerchiefs and woggles.

A Harrods drone says there is no record of the event – although there is now – and apologised “unreservedly“.

Says Scout leader Paul Kosinski:

“To my horror they said we were going to have to take off our neckers and woggles. I said, ‘definitely not’, I’m a scout and it’s part of my identity.

“We’re scouts, we’re one of the most respectable groups in the UK. What would Baden Powell think of this?”

Well, he’s dead. So, not much.

As for Harrods, there’s no mention of banning neckties and woggles on its website:

There are periods, when the store is at its busiest, that Harrods has to take the difficult decision to deny access to tour parties and larger groups of visitors. This is done in the interest of health and safety.

Like on the first day of the sales when the press arrive en masse. And that’s Harrods – the shop that sells, er, school uniforms…
