Council Relocates Doggers And 6000 Suicidal Trees In Blackburn

TO a treeless, dogger-free 12-hectare site beside the A666 near the Green Arms Road junction in Blackburn. The area was once a haven for doggers and trees.

Then United Utilities removed 6,000 trees “after a health and safety survey”. A spokesman for United Utilities tells the Lancashire Telegraph:

“They were old and at risk of falling into the road causing an accident.”

No, not the doggers. The trees. All 6,000 of them? One is an accident. Six thousand is mass suicide. And many of the trees were on a slope that rolled away from the road.

The area will be replanted. And in around 20 years it will be lush and full of doggers marvelling at the new foliage.

Badger enthusiasts have yet to comment but are thought to be looking at their options…
