MOHAMMED Vakas, 26, maimed Danish-born Mr Awais Akram by pouring sulphuric acid drain cleaner over him. Awais had been seeing Varak’s married sister Sadia Khatoon, whom he had met on Facebook. Mr Akram had come to the UK from Pakistan for work.

While he was secretly seeing Sadia, Awais went off to Pakistan and married his fiancé Sameera and then returned to carry on his other relationship.

Vakas leant of the affair. He attacked Awais with Mohammed Adeel, 20, a 17-year-old Kosovan friend named Fabion Kuci and Khatoon’s husband Shakeel Abassi.

The husband and wife fled their home in Walthamstow to Pakistan, where they remain.

Vakas has been convicted of conspiracy to murder. He is jailed for 30 years. Adeel and Kuci were of convicted of conspiracy to cause grievous bodily harm, earning 14 years and 8 years jail, respectively.

During the plot, the men received instructions from Khatoon’s husband, Abassi, who was in a hotel room near Heathrow with his wife. She was on the phone to the unsuspecting victim who was telling her his whereabouts.

Awais Akram sustained 47 per cent burns to his body during the attack. Says Mr Akram:

“When they were beating me up I had become quite unconscious and as this person came in front of me he had a bottle in his hand. He was standing right in front of me and was telling me ‘open your mouth, open your mouth’. I had covered my mouth. He spilt it on top of my head. I was in such a state I couldn’t really see. I kept on saying ‘why are you hitting me, what have I done?’.”

Can this horrific crime he be used to fit an agenda? Let us know…
