Pathetic Sentences For Three ‘Boys’ Who Kicked Ralph Millward To Death

by | 30th, June 2010

I KNEW Ralph Millward, the Big Issue seller who stood outside the Marks & Spencer in Westbourne, just west of Bournemouth town centre. I did not know him as a person, just as a face and shapeless body in shapeless green clothes.

Jimmy Ayres, 15, Craig Real, 17, and Warren Crago, 17, kicked and beat him to death as he slept rough by the store.

To Winchester Crown Court for sentencing. Ayres is jailed for 90 weeks. Real will be inside for four years nine months. Crago will serve four years. But it wasn’t murder. The boys were drunk and had no idea that kicking a man in the face and head might kill.

Judge Guy Boney described the attack as a “mindless and chillingly casual” act of violence.

Det Insp Jez Noyce, of Dorset Police, says:

“This conviction and sentence should serve as a warning to those who feel they can go through life abdicating responsibility for their actions and not then face the consequences.”

Is he joking?
