Raoul Moat went out in a splendid blaze o’ glory imo! This guy, dishonoured by his girl, decided to rehabilitate his lost honor by slaying the suitor who cuckolded him, teaching his woman a lesson, before taking his own life and thus saving face in true Roman style. And he blinded a copper to boot! – what’s not to love about this situation.

Almost as disturbing as Moat are the ‘fanz’ who rushed squint-eyed into the sunlight from under their stones, spewing hatred and vitriol towards anything or anybody that represented ‘order’ or authority. They presumably have jobs and kids and pass us by on the street without us noticing them. Worrying. ‘The Deification of a Monster’, now showing at a cinema near you…

yes – that was strange – almost as if they were willing him to be a devil in disguise…
they didn’t have to work at it with Moat though – the difference between them seems to be that Bird just snapped – Moat had form as long as your arm….
that’s not to say that I would condone Bird’s behaviour or sympathise with anyone but his victims, but there was something deeply unpleasant about Moat, whereas Bird seemed to be pretty inoffensive up until the day he went completely berserk….

Oh I dunno , I think the death of a demon and the rebirth of a unsocial hero is quite interesting, well as fascinating as watching a motorway smash, something weird and extremely ghastly.
The odd thing is when Derrick Bird killed everyone, the locals seemed in denial and regret and not hatred, but the media were relentless about demonising him, but he seemed more ‘normal’ or ordinary than Moat
