MISSING 7-year-old Mohammed Fazlu, of Bangalore, India, has been fond alive and well. Fazlu was playing football when he kicked the ball into a train. He went to retrieve it and before he could climb back down the train had moved off.

Four months later, police find the lad living in India’s Vellore district, in Tamil Nadu, 800 miles from home. They launch an appeal for his parents on TV channel. Mohammed’s younger brother Roshan Zameer was watching the television. He sees his brother and tells his parents.

A reunion is arranged. But what hadn’t dad reported his son missing? Says a police spokesman:

When I asked his father why they had not reported his disappearance to police, he said ‘you know what the police are like, they never help, and they ask for bribes.”

In other news, Chinese parents are still looking for hundreds of relatives seen retrieving balls and plastic knick-knacks from the back of fruit and veg trucks last seen heading for Harwich…
