Andy Coulson: Steve Coogan Hires The Lawyers And Sienna Miller Adds Sex Appeal To NoTW Hacking Row

ANDY Coulson: Police have questioned former News Of The World reporter Sean Hoare. He says his former editor Coulson knew all about the phone hacking. The now Tory communications supremo says he knew nothing. There is no proof that he did.

The paper’s royal editor Clive Goodman and private investigator Glenn Mulcaire were jailed in 2007 for hacking into the voice mails of people who might have led interesting lives. People like, perhaps, Steve Coogan, who has secured the services of John Kelly, from London law firm Schillings. Coogan fears that the NoTW hacked his mobile phone.

The Hollywood Reporter says:

Sienna Miller, “Who Wants to be a Millionaire” host Chris Tarrant and a slew of politicians are also thought likely to take action against the paper in what could amount to a legal bonanza if their claims are upheld.

A celebrity element adds sensation. Bitter politicians and left-wing hacks with an agenda were never enough. This story might yet get more coverage than on the pages of the Guardian and the BBC. The celeb-loving Telegraph might find it too hard to pass up a chance to publish a  picture Sienna Miller in her skimpies.

Hoare’s lawyers, Mr Sonn says:

“Sean Hoare, the journalist who was the subject of the recent New York Times article on phone hacking, was today interviewed under caution by officers of the Metropolitan Police at the offices of his solicitor David Sonn. Mr Hoare was not arrested.”

The great story being badly told by the Guardian might yet have some legs…
