Night Bus Driver Arrested Over Belsize Park Hit And Run – French Rugby Ace Not Involved

by | 2nd, October 2010

WHEN Singaporian student Tan Mingwei, 20, was killed in hit and run incident on Haverstock Hill, in London’s Belsize Park, it was hard to guess the police would arrest a night bus drier.

Police have now arrested the bus driver, 50, and impounded his bus. He claims to have been unaware of hitting anyone.

Miss Tan was hit and then dragged along for a almost mile at 2am. She was found by Belsize Park underground station. Her shoes were found by the Royal Free Hospital almost a mile away.

The story is grim but in the Mail’s hands it becomes worse as the nameless “reporter” garnishes the news with a sprinkle of celebrity juice:

Miss Tan was dragged for a mile when she was hit. She was found suffering serious injuries a mile away at around 2am, outside the home of former French rugby international Thomas Castaignede.

Did you get that?

And in case you were wondering:

Mr Castaignede, 35, said he had not heard anything either, adding that he had been asleep at the time.

Which is vital, right?
