RIP Havildar Lachhiman Gurung. He won the Victoria Cross for his work with the Gurkha Rifles in Burma in May 1945. One night, over 200 Japanese soldiers attacked. Gurung was alone in his post. He held his position, picking up grenades thrown his way and tossing them back at the enemy. The third grenade exploded, damaging his face, legs and arm. The enemy massed tanks and charged.
