Ruby Thomas Is The Face Of Hate: The Death Of Ian Baynham In Pictures
RUBY Thomas and Joel Alexander kicked and beat Ian Baynham to death in Trafalgar Square because he was gay and holding hands with his boyfriend. Mr Baynham was attacked close to the South African High Commission.
Ruby Thomas was found guilty at the Old Bailey of manslaughter. Joel Alexander has been convicted of the same charge.
Rachael Burke, 18, of Upper Norwood, southeast London, was earlier found guilty of affray. But it’s Ruby Thomas who excites the media. She’s the 18-year-old blonde who went to £12,000-a-year Sydenham High School for Girls.
The event was swift. She called Mr Baynham a “fucking faggot”. She swung her bag at him. He grabbed it. Joel Alexander hit him. Mr Baynham fell and hit his head on the pavement. With blood oozing from his nose and ears, Ruby Thomas kicked him the head. She had blood on her ballet pumps and her handbag.
Mr Baynham clung onto life for 18 days.
Homophobia is not a myth. It is very real. A man died because he dared to be true to himself and live his own life in the middle of London…
Undated CCTV still issued by the Metropolitan Police of Ruby Thomas (front) and Rachael Burke in Hungerford Bridge lift after the attack on Ian Baynham, in Trafalgar Square, central London, on September 25, 2009. Former public schoolgirl Ruby Thomas was found guilty at the Old Bailey today of the manslaughter of civil servant Ian Baynham in Trafalgar Square during a homophobic attack.
