No Snow Today: How Charles Onians And The Met Office Mistook Weather For Climate

THE Cleveland Harbor West Pierhead Lighthouse, Boris Johnson, the Met Office, Charles Onians and the Heathrow Airport Glee Club present the day’s best of the weather in photos.

Boris, a believer in anthropogenic global warming, although he has wobbled, is at least on his bike. The politicians who tells us that mad weather is inevitable – who fail to prepare for a harsh winter – are in their heated offices.

While you work out how all the money spent on combating man-made climate change compares to stockpiling grit for Gaia’s dandruff, note that the top story on the Independent right now is Charles Onians’s classic text of March 2000 – which still tops the Met Office’s prediction of 2010 being a “milder” winter:

“Snowfalls are now just a thing of the past”
