Nine Plotted To Kill Boris Johnson With Bomb? Better To Use A White Van

by | 28th, December 2010

THE nine alleged bombers were going to blow up Big Ben, that most notable of London landmarks, and one secured by barriers, armed police and a river. It’s the Telegraph’s lead news item.

The Sun leads with news that the accused wanted to blow up Boris Johnson. The London mayor goes many places on a pushbike, so he’s not such a tricky target and one requiring less a bomb than a white van failing to indicate.

The Mail says the nine planned, allegedly, to bomb the London Eye. And again we raise an eyebrow and give it the sideways eyes. The London Eye is a mass of metal on the river. The base is twenty feet off the ground. The gist shop, however, if hittable if the bombers drove a Smart car or bike (the bollards prevents large vehicles getting closes) along Westminster Bridge and down a steep flight of steps.

Oh. And they also had in their possession, it is claimed, the full address of the London Stock Exchange and the US Embassy – with “full postal codes”. And their alleged weapon of choice? Well, the Telegraph says they has “al-Qaeda inspired books and leaflets, including instructions on making a pipe bomb”.

Set the satnav to “laughable dickheads” and give them a car.
