Murdered Politician Captured His Killer On Camera Moments Before He Was Shot

by | 4th, January 2011

TO the Philippines, where Caloocan City politico Reynaldo Dagsa has been shot and killed by the man he has just captured on his camera.

It is New Year’s Eve. Mr Dagsa has been awoken to celebrate. He goes outside onto the street. Fireworks are being left off. Amid the explosive din, a bullet is fired. Mr Dagsa is struck in the chest and arm. He dies.

But right before he was shot he took a photo of his family. Behind them was his killer. Pistol cocked. Eyes narrowed.

The dead man’s family see the photos. They identify Michael Gonzales, alias Fubo, a local villain Mr Dagsa jailed for stealing cars. To his side is Rommel Oliva, aka Balong. He too has been arrested.

A tragic story. But given the protagonists’ names and the plot, David Mamet would be forgiven for thinking one of his scripts has just written itself…
