Joanna Yeates: Is This Her Missing Sock?

by | 5th, January 2011

JOANNA Yeates: Have you seen the missing sock? The sock was not with Joanna Yeates’s body when it found on Longwood Lane, Failand near Bristol. The presumption is that she had been wearing socks and that they were a matching pair.

Detective Chief Inspector Phil Jones tells media:

“When Jo was found at the site in Longwood Lane her coat and boots were missing. These were later found at her flat in Canynge Road. One of her socks was missing and we have yet to find this. It is described as a light grey sock with lighter detail on the toes, heel and shin.”

He goes on:

“We have not located this sock at the scene or at Jo’s home. I am keen to find it, so I would appeal to anyone who may know where it is to contact my team.”

The sock is important. But the Telegraph knows exactlt why it is. Get this:

Joanna Yeates ‘may have been strangled with own sock’

Such are the facts. And nto ones you wills ee on ITV news – it was banned from the press conference because reporter Geraint Vincent questioned whether the Avon & Somerset police had done a decent job. As he told us:

“There may be good reasons why certain routine inquiries may not have been followed. But while this investigation has arrested and released one suspect, 10 days in it is still apparently short of evidence.”
