by | 19th, January 2011

RICHARD Byrne used the red Mini Copper he was test driving to kill himself.

On July 13, 2010, Byrne of Chanel Road, Artane, Dublin 5, secured a test drive with Jeremy Beshoff, owner of Beshoff Motors in Howth. The owner sat in the passenger seat as they motored off. They appraach a pier. Mr Byrne locks the doors.

Mr Beshoff says:

“This happened so quickly I only realised when we were going over the side that Mr Byrne was on a suicide mission.”

The car fills with water. Mr Beshoff manges to escape.

Mr Beshoff suggested that “maybe he wanted someone with him because he was too scared to do it on his own“.
