Charlie Sheen Is In Like Flynn (And Out When The Hour Is Up)

by | 3rd, February 2011

CHARLIE Sheen would like you to know that his antics are a toss back to the golden age of Hollywood, when swordsman Errol Flynn was in his pomp. Sheen is not a dissolute content factory; he’s a cultural archivists:

“I have a lot of work to do to be able to return the support I have received from so many people. I want to say ‘thank-you’ to my fellow cast members, the crew of Two and a Half Men and everyone at CBS and Warner Bros., especially Les Moonves and Bruce Rosenblum for their concern and support.
And to my fans, your good wishes have touched me very much.
Like Errol Flynn, who had to put down his sword on occasion, I just want to say, ‘thank-you.’”

While we work out who the hell Les Moonves are – our money’s on a group of travelling French human vivisectionists – we look up Errol Flynn and learn a few things about the star of porn parodies like Too Much too Soon,  Four’s A Crowd, It’s a Great Feeling and They Died with Their Boots On:

We learn that the phrase “In like Flynn” stems from his 1942 trial for statutory rape. ”

Out Like Sheen” is a phrase porn stars yell when the hour is up…
