Track of the day: The Chemistry Set – Impossible Love

by | 11th, February 2011

You might not have heard of The Chemistry Set, but they have been around for quite a while now delivering melodic, but rather trippy psychedelic pop. Check out the album This Day Will Never Happen Again on Spotify for more.

Before you do though give the band’s upcoming vinyl only single which is available via Soundcloud too for you to listen to now, a spin.

Impossible Love is genius. It has a wonderful groove – think Stone Roses before the drugs took over – an instantly hummable tune yet it is massively ambitious with it – it goes on for six glorious minutes. This is the best mash up of Psychedelia and baggy beats for nigh on 20 years. Best of all it sounds so completely fresh with it. Be warned it is a bit of a slow burner, but by the second minute you’ll be utterly hooked.

Best track of 2011 so far? I think so.

Incidentally the band are playing Spain in March complete with a UFO Floyd style lightshow. Wouldn’t it be great to get them on the UK – how about it chaps?
