Mums’ Leaflet Campaign Rids Neighbourhood Of Alleged Paedo

by | 15th, February 2011

DARREN Lee Cook, 25, is the suspected paedophile living at Saxon Close, Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire. He’s on bail. He’s been charged with making and distributing indecent images of children.

What’s more he is suspected of trying to import a nine-year-old Serbian girl. He is also charged with sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl and inciting a 12-year-old girl to engage in sexual activity. Oh, and there’s his alleged driving without insurance.

In 2010, he appeared at Blackburn Magistrates’ Court and denied all charges. He will in Preston Crowd Court this May.

And he’s no longer living at Saxon Close. Mums in the area posted leaflets about him through letterboxes. They knocked on doors. They told anyone in the area about Darren Cook. And on Thursday night, he was taken away by police. He left the flat with a blanket over his head.

Says Caroline Brew, who lives locally:

“It was not a mob, it was just to protect our children.”

A Deborah Hindle adds:

“Whether these allegations are true or not, I can’t think of a worse place to put someone accused of serious offences like these.”

So. Where should a suspected paedophile be housed while on bail..?
