Amanda Knox: With Parents Like Hers Who Needs Enemies?

AMANDA Knox and Meredith Kercher: “What is it Americans have against the Italians?” asks one Anorak reader.

They consistently display nothing but contempt for them and their country, from private individuals to the US government.

The Knox parents, Curt Knox and Edda Mellas, have been ordered to stand trial in Perugia for libelling the police in a Sunday Times interview. They said their daughter-  in jail for murdering Kercher – was abused by police.

Their trial is due to begin on 4 July.

The charge stems from an interview they gave to Britain’s two years ago in which they said their daughter had – after arrest – been refused an interpreter, deprived of food and water, and physically and verbally abused by the police.

The couple have claimed that  Knox was hit and told that she could not ask for a lawyer.

Knox, 23, is currently appealing against her conviction in 2009 for the murder of Ms Kercher. Anyone think her parents’ trail  is helping..?

A tearful Amanda Knox said Saturday that being in prison is "very frustrating and mentally exhausting" as the American student convicted of murdering her roommate insisted she is innocent and does not want to spend the rest of her life behind bars. Knox was emotional as she briefly addressed the appeals court in Perugia at the end of the session, her voice breaking at times and her eyes tearing up. She was convicted in 2009 of sexually assaulting and murdering Meredith Kercher of Britain, and sentenced to 26 years in prison. (AP Photo/Stefano Medici)
