vano Bonetti was something of a fans' favourite at Grimsby, but when he came head-to-head with manager Brian Laws in 1996, it was the Italian who paid the price. The bust-up between the two followed a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Luton. After the match Laws was furious with Bonetti, claiming he hadn't tried hard enough. When Bonetti spoke back, Laws threw a plate of chicken at him, leaving the former Juventus man with a fractured cheekbone. And Laws wasn't finished there - he sold him to Tranmere at the end of the season
