Sian O’Callaghan: The Search For Tina Pryer

by | 25th, March 2011

SIAN O’Callaghan: Christopher Halliwell has not been charged with any crime. He is only helping the police with their enquiries.

The Guardian reports that he has led police to the Gloucester village of Northleach in the Cotswolds. There, police are looking for a second body.

Channel 4 wonders who the body is:

Detective Superintendent Steve Fulcher, leading the murder inquiry, did not give the identity of the suspected body, but said he believes it may be that of Wiltshire’s “only remaining missing person.”

Or as the Wiltshire Times put it:

In Wiltshire, figures compiled by Jane’s Police Review, an independent police magazine, show there were 2,287 people registered as missing in 2007/08.

The BBC says 2,000 people go missing every year in Wiltshire.

The broadcaster then says police are looking in the village of Eastleach. The police agree that it is Eastleach. But both places have been searched.

What the police actually said was:

“Wiltshire only has one outstanding missing adult case and that is from several years ago.”

She could be Tina Pryer:

An application to magistrates for a warrant of further detention may be made later today.
