Can Nicola McLean Make Anorexia Sexy? OK! Investigates

by | 8th, April 2011

NICOLA McLean, a former pneumatic Page 3 has breasts that look even more out of proportion to the rest of her because she has anorexia.

On the cover of OK!, Nicola cradles her naked chest, pulls on a pair of short denim shorts and turns to face her audience. She may even have tossed back her hair from her face (chin dipped to bare shoulder; eyes raised) to allow nothing to get in the way of her telling us:

I AM ANOREXIC.

Nicola’s “eating disorder” might well be “devastating”, but what we want to know is: can it be turn on? Can anorexia be sexy? Can mental illness be alluring?

Inside OK!, Nicola is wearing a pair of silvery pants and nothing else. OK! observes, harshly:

“Something is very wrong with Nicola McLean.”

Says Nicola:

“I know everyone’s obsessed with weight loss. So am I. And that’s why I’ve lost so much. I put on so much weight when I was having Striker [not her pet name for her footballer husband, but an actual name of an actual child]…”

She then says that she starves herself:

“I’m staving myself and that could be life-threatening. I know I’m not being healthy.”

Nicola then pulls on a shirt unbuttoned to the crotch and a pair of very tight white shorts. She faces us. Fearlessly.

Says she:

“If I didn’t have breast implants, I’d look like a 12-year-old boy.”

Still, with hair extensions by a “celebrity extensionist”, shorts by New Look and photographed by the ever present Can Associates, Nicola will muddle along. If that is not enough she can get advice from Can Associates’ Kerry Katona (“You’re too f***ing thin, McLean!”), her Can Associates chum Peter Andre and a team of “celebrity personal developments coaches”, Nicola might just be ok.

Celebrity Anorexia might make your famous – but can it make you shaggable?
