Police Search London Squats For Stolen Electricity: Kate Middleton Waves

by | 28th, April 2011

AS Kate Middleton left Westminster Abbey in London, following a rehearsal for the Royal wedding, police were smashing down doors across London.

The lads at the Territorial Support Group public order unit raided the Rat Star squat near Camberwell Green, the OffMarket in Hackney and Grow Heathrow near Heathrow Airport.

The official word is that the Rat Star raid was to arrest people who have been handling stolen goods. What goods? Diamonds? Chocolate bars? Oil? No. The police have arrested 14 people in connection with “illegal abstraction of electricity”.

Says a police spkesman:

“These are not pre-emptive strikes, it’s not royal wedding related. On a normal day there would be police raids like these to uphold the law.”

Sure. The Met says the TSG are:

“London’s first response to any planned or spontaneous events, which may involve public disorder.”

So. Nothing to do with the wedding, then…
