Queen’s Park Rangers’ Second Premature Pitch Invasion: Photos

QUEENS Park Rangers have gained promotion to the Premier League. Adel Taarabt is the hero who took QPR to the top tier after a 15 year hiatus.

But wait a moment. Have they really gone up? Last week against Hull, QPR fans ended up on the pitch in a premature pitch invasion. A late Norwich goal ensured promotion had not yet been secured.

But surely now Rangers must got up. They have 89 points and cannot be overtaken. The problem is that the club is the subject of an investigation by the Football Association over the signing of midfielder Alejandro Faurlin in 2009.

If enough points are deducted by way of a punishment, QPR might drop into the play-off zone and, should results pan out badly, stay in the Championship. The ruling should be known by next Friday. But if it isn’t, then when QPR play Leeds next Saturday, the fans could storm the pitch prematurely for the third time.

Once is an accident. Twice is unlucky. Thrice is a medial condition…
