Rally Against Debt In Photos: Greek Formula One And Tea

by | 14th, May 2011

IN L0ndon, demonstrators took part today in the Rally Against Debt outside the Houses of Parliament, London, to protest over the levels of the national debt.

What the complaint really should be about is the elite carving up the cash and getting away with it:

Heath secretary Andrew Lansley’s wife has come under fire after she boasted about links with Cabinet ministers for her business clients. Sally Low, who has been married to the Cabinet minister for the past 10 years, is the founder and managing director of public relations business Low Associates. Her company’s website claims it can help ‘make the link between the public and private sectors’ and highlights how it ‘also set up a debate between a Cabinet minister and his shadow, which really captured the media’s attention’.

You might puke. But save the bag. The money the EU gave to Greece to save it from death is being wisely spent:

The track near the western port city of Patras will cost 94.6 million euros ($135.8 million), the Athens-based ministry said today in an e-mailed statement. It will be designed to host other events as well, including world championship motorbike racing and go-kart racing, the ministry said.

The three-year project, which requires parliamentary approval, will boost tourism in the region and create 497 jobs, according to the statement.

Racetrack Patras SA, a private investment company with 411 shareholders, will oversee the project. The state will provide a subsidy of just over 28.9 million euros, or almost 31 percent, the ministry said.

The UK has money for that but not money for this:

The proposed move from Silverstone to Donington collapsed because the company redeveloping the circuit failed to show it had the £135m funding required.
