BEING Jan Moir must be hard work. Competing week in and week out with the likes of Liz Jones and Richard Littlejohn to conjure the most bile-riddled story of the Daily Mail’s week, takes perseverance, bloody-mindedness and a monocular outlook that many believed would never move from novels on yellow paper to actual newspapers you can buy in actual shops.

The key to being bilious is consistency. And Moir has just lucked out. Today she tells us about Simon’s Cowell’s return to Britain’s Got Talent:
