Guardian Comment Network Aims To Own Your Independent Blog – Comment Is Free

by | 8th, June 2011

CAN The Guardian take control of blogs? The Guardian says there are “many bloggers out there who are often just as good as Guardian journalists – if not better – at spotting stories and responding quickly and imaginatively to them“.

Natalie Hanman adds:

We hope to act as curators for the best of this content, while acknowledging that we as editors are not the only ones who can or should decide on the direction of Comment is free on any given day.

That’s a nice trick if the Guardian can pull it off. It gets lots of content for free while building its brand. But, don’t worry, the Guardian will keep your work safe. Because Facebook and Google do that alone.
