Louis Walsh And The Spectre Of Gay Sex At A Westlife Concert

by | 24th, June 2011

LOUIS Walsh is making the kind of front-page news headlines even the cynical PR manipulator at the X Factor could surely do without. Yesterday, the Sun yelled:

“Louis Walsh probed over ‘sex attack on man in loo’”

Looking beyond the tastefulness of a pun made at the expense of alleged sexual assault victim, we were confronted by the shock of Walsh being the subject of a story on his private life. Up until now, Walsh was the man who needed no super-injunction. (Today, the Daily Mail leads with “LAY OFF LOUIS; the Mirror has a sad looking Walsh saying “I’M DEVASTATED“).  The media has left him well alone. The man who looks like what would happen if Frank Sidebottom was kidnapped by head hunters and his shrunken noggin stuck atop a spring and placed on the parcel shelf of a family hatchback as it motored down a cobbled road only existed on the telly.

Now he exists in print. The Sun went on:

X FACTOR judge Louis Walsh is being probed by police over claims he indecently assaulted a young dad in a nightclub toilet. A 24-year-old single man told cops the 58-year-old TV favourite molested him after they met in a bar following a Westlife concert in Dublin.

Single dad? Westlife concert?? Toilets..???

The man told police Louis groped his private parts after they got chatting.

But last night furious Louis said: “The allegations made against me are wholly false and with no foundation… I will happily cooperate fully with the police and am 100 per cent confident that after a full investigation I will be fully exonerated.”

Walsh denies any wrongdoing.

The allegation went:

The dad claims the attack happened in the early hours of April 10. It is said Louis stopped off at Dublin’s Russell Court Hotel after attending a concert in the city by Westlife, the group he created. [Still looking for a crime to hit Walsh with, readers?] The father told cops he socialised with Louis in the hotel’s private Global Bar – and later in its famous Krystle nightclub.

In a statement, he claimed the TV favourite assaulted him when he went to the club’s loo.

One day on and the Daily Star leads with the allegation. It thunders:

“TV LOUIS SUICIDAL OVER GAY SEX LIES”

He’s suicidal? He’s suicidal over being alleged to have been party to gay sex?

LOUIS Walsh claims he was “set up” over allegations that he indecently assaulted a young man in a nightclub toilet. Louis Walsh said the claims were a “nightmare” which had left him feeling suicidal. He has now called in a top team of celebrity lawyers, led by Paul Tweed, in a bid to clear his name.

Celebrity lawyers? We’ve never heard of Paul Tweed. What telly show’s he on, then?

As for Walsh being “suicidal”:

“I was nearly suicidal when I heard what I was being accused of. It’s just been a nightmare.”

So. He isn’t suicidal…

“I feel sick. I’ve done nothing wrong. It’s all cruel lies and the man behind this won’t get away with it… I’m just horrified that my name can be made public and dragged through the mud and yet the man who made this false allegation stays anonymous.”

But what of the Star’s gay sex story? Walsh says he helped the alleged victim get into the club. He says that when inside the man went off with his own pals. Walsh adds:

“We left him in an entirely different part of the club, I stayed with a group of other people all night and in the end I got a taxi back to the Four Seasons with two girls to collect my car and I dropped the two girls home.”

Girls. Feck. Girls. Did you hear that, readers? GIRLS…

Note: Louis Walsh has not been arrested and denies asaulting the man.
