Hackers Hit PayPal On Twitter: Now To Break Into The News Of The World’s Phones

by | 6th, July 2011

HACKERS have brought down PayPal’s Twitter site. PayPal is, of course, “the safer, easier way to pay.”

The hackers altered the strap line to say:

‘The official twitter account for the fail team at PayPal UK.”

The hackers then tweeted directions to a site called paypalsucks.com and the message:

“All your paypal accounts are now frozen while we clean up this mess.”

Anuj Nayar, Director of Communications, for PayPal makes a play at not being bothered:

“PayPal UK’s Twitter feed was targeted by hackers tonight. PayPal would like to reassure all customers that PayPal’s UK customer systems and data have not been breached or hacked in any way. There is no link between customer systems and our Twitter account.”

This is nonsense. PayPal only needs a Twitter account for its PR – and the PR is that PayPal is not secure. The hackers might not have got the big one, but they did try to damage the brand.

Next stop: News International. Now, how to hack those phones and emails. Anyone know a good BT engineer that can be bribed?…
