Are Polar Bears Drowning Or Just Waving?

by | 29th, July 2011

POLAR Bears are being saved! Grab a Foxes Glacier mint and suck hard. Dr Charles Monnett is an Alaskan wildlife biologist working at the US Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement. Dr Monnett hit the news cycle when he spotted four polar bear bodies floating in the sea miles from land.

His sighting helped turn polar bears into this century’s panda bears. Polars were in. Pandas, who had hogged the limelight in the 1970s and 1980s with their prudiush attitudes to sex, could retire.

Dr Monnett said bear “drowning-related deaths may increase if the observed trend of regression of pack ice and/or longer open water periods continues“.

And then:

A federal wildlife biologist whose observation in 2004 of presumably drowned polar bears in the Arctic helped to galvanize the global warming movement has been placed on administrative leave and is being investigated for scientific misconduct, possibly over the veracity of that article.

Charles Monnett, an Anchorage-based scientist with the U.S. Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement, or BOEMRE, was told July 18 that he was being put on leave, pending results of an investigation into “integrity issues.”

Who sings for the drowning polar bears now..?
