Barnsley Drunk Driver Blames Colour Blind Horse For Racing Red Light

by | 7th, August 2011

TO Barnsley Magistrates Court, where local caravaner John Mulvenna says his horse and trap shot a red light because the Fred (the horse) is colour blind. Mr Mulvenna told officers he was “merry” but not drunk.

The Beak listens and hands Mr Mulvenna a 12-month conditional discharge with £50 costs. Says he:

“Fred’s three and he’s worth about three or four thousand pounds. I have had him since he was a foal. I bred him and he’s the best you can get but he is a bit colour blind.”

Fred was last seen walking into the snooker halls, where he is considered a decent player but something of a soft touch when the merry-go-round lads are in town…
