Cambridge Council Gives Golf Stars For Little Bin Users

by | 27th, August 2011

WHO wants a gold star for being good? Cambridge Council proposes issuing a gold star to anyone who downsizes from a 240 litre bin to one of 140 litres. All 140-litre bin issued from now on will feature a big gold star. This will not only make the owner of a stella wheelie bin feel great but mark them out as a cut above their neighbours.

Cllr Jean Swanson, the council’s executive member for environmental and waste services, says:

“Recycling has now become a part of most people’s routine, partly because we all see our neighbours doing it when they put their recycling bin out. We want to make waste reduction a normal part of everyday life.”

We recycle because we see our neighbours doing it? Nothing to do with punishment if we don’t comply, then?

That’s your neighbour sat on their naughty front step…
