Local News Story Of The Day: Lancashire Couple’s Shower Is UK’s Oldest?

by | 30th, August 2011

TONY and Margaret Jackson’s Mira 8b shower with a Kelta shower was installed at their Brierfield, Lancashire, bungalow in 1976. It might be the UK’s oldest working shower. And it certianly is our Local News Story of The Day.

The Lancashire Telegraph reports:

It has served the couple and their 30-year-old twin daughters Victoria and Christina, who moved out five years ago, ever since… Margaret, of Brierfield, said she thought they had paid between £50 and £60 for the shower, making one of the best bargains she had found over the years.

She adds:

“We did replace the washers a few years ago but that’s a small job when you think about how long the shower’s been going for.”

We will. We should all give it some thought…
