Carlos Tevez Is Heading To Spurs: Manchester City Begin Desperate Search For New Rich Brat

CARLOS Tevez, Manchester City’s £200,000-a-week striker, explains why he didn’t play against Bayern Munich as a substitute:

“This is not the right time to go into specific details as to why this did not happen but I wish to state I never refused to play. There was some confusion on the bench and I believe my position was misunderstood.”

Roberto Mancini, City’s manger offers:

“For me, if a player plays for Manchester City in the Champions League and earns a lot of money and does this, then he can never play for me again. I have helped him for the last two years and I can’t accept this from him. For me, he’s finished. I cannot go on with him. If I decide these things then he’s finished.  I have helped him and now he’s refused to play. At Bayern Munich, do you think this would happen? Would it happen at Milan or United? I am the manager and I make the decisions and in my opinion he can’t play for me again. I am unhappy and I should be unhappy with this. I will speak in the next days with the chairman Khaldoon. That is normal because he is the chairman…

“The first change I decided as I wanted to keep down the score and stop Bayern scoring a third. We still had 40 minutes left. Ten minutes later Carlos was the one to go on and I asked him to warm up and he said ‘No’. If we want to improve, then players like Carlos cannot do this.’

All brilliant stuff, of course. You can pay a player to play but you can’t make him play well nor enjoy it. Anorak awaits the arrival of talent spotting Harry Redknapp to take Tevez to Spurs; City to buy another milti-millionaire to make richer; or for Tevez to spend the rest of his City career on a bench next to the reserves training pitch…
