Why Israel Must Be Held To Higher Standards Than Arab States
NY Times columnist Nicholas Kristof says Israel must be held to higher standards than it near Kristof neighbours:
That’s what democracy means: people have the right to vote on the government that controls their lives. Some of my Israeli friends will think I’m unfair and harsh, applying double standards by focusing on Israeli shortcomings while paying less attention to those of other countries in the region. Fair enough: I plead guilty. I apply higher standards to a close American ally like Israel that is a huge recipient of American aid.
Is the US the world’s moral policeman?

Well, ok is more than you said in the article. Part of what I’m saying is that if you’re going to make that argument, then make it. Properly. Writing two lines then cutting and pasting a paragraph doesn’t develop a meaningful argument. You may have a point in what you’re saying, but you should at least attempt to develop your point properly.

The point of the article is that NY Times columnist Nicholas Kristof wrote it. I published it because it appears to show that the MSM treats Israel with double standards. Isn’t Saudi Arabia an ally of the US?

what is the point of this article?
Some of the “journalism” on this site is questionable. Just because you have a Content Management System, and you can type any old stuff in and publish it immediately, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t have some sort of quality control or editorial process.
As for the substantive point, Israel regularly claims to be superior to the rest of the Arab world by virtue of its’ democratic status, claiming to be more civilised. Yet it has an undisclosed nuclear arsenal, regularly annexes land from its’ neighbour, and has one of the most powerful and murderous military forces in the world. And it gets 3 Billion a year in US aid, much of which goes on weapons used to attack Palestinians.
A bit of moral probity wouldn’t go amiss.
