Police Trap Suspects With Free Beer Sting

by | 12th, November 2011

DERBYSHIRE police have arrested 19 suspects in a sting. The Police sent missives to the last known addresses of people who had evaded arrest. The letters invited the recipients to phone the printed number and claim their free crates of beer. The number was for Chesterfield Police Station. Police arranged for the booze to be delivered. And at the agreed time, the cops showed up to make an arrest.

Says Chief Inspector Graham McLaughlin of Operation Rocky:

“These suspects are people who have managed to evade arrest for some time so we have used different tactics to find them. It has been very cost effective as it can take a lot of time and money to track people down. We use a variety of methods to arrest those suspected of committing criminal offences and we will continue to use new tactics when necessary.”

Might this kind of ploy trap bigger fish?
