Chandra Wisnu Is The Bubble Man: Can He Save His Children?

by | 18th, November 2011

CHANDRA Wisnu, 57, is known as “The Bubble Man”. The father of three rarely leaves his home in Indonesia. If he does he wear s a disguise – three jackets, a balaclava and sunglasses. Says he:

“People are afraid, they are frightened of my horrible face and worried they might catch the disease. So instead I avoid people, I rarely go out except to pick up my daughter from school. And when I do I cover my head and my face because I don’t want my daughter’s friends to bully her for having ‘the dad with the horrible face’.”

Mr Wisnu fist noticed the bubbles when he was 19.  At 32, he was covered in them.  He told of his wife to “leave and never return”. She stayed. She says:

“I refused. Seeing him carry on with his life in spite of his changing appearance was to me a sign of great strength, not weakness.”

Now two of his children are showing signs of developing the condition. He says:

“They only have some small tumours now but they worry they will get worse. If there is a chance to get such kind of free medication, I will take that chance, but right now my family is all the treatment I need.”

In a age where beauty is held in such high esteem and , Mr Wisnu is a brave man…

Indian grocer Radhakant Baijpai certainly has a goal in life: make sure that he has the longest ear hair in the world. Radhakant was crowned the official Guinness world record holder for the longest ear hair back in 2003, when his aural fronds were an already-impressive 13.2cm long. But that didn't stop him pursuing his goal of ever-longer hair on his ears. After several more years of carefully cultivating and caring for the ear-hair, Radhakant's tufts now stretch an astonishing 25cm.
