Flesh-Eating Bananas Strike Mozambique

by | 4th, December 2011

REPORTS of flesh-eating bananas in Mozambique overstate the problem.

According to the official statement:

“From the work conducted by the Ministries of Agriculture, Health and Trade and Industry, it was concluded that there is no record of entry of any infected banana in the country.”

Readers of an email claiming that bananas from KwaZulu-Natal in neighbouring South Africa contain necrotising fasciitis, aka the flesh-eating bacteria, are wide of the mark.

As anyone knows, it’s those Zimbabwean radishes that will get you first, being, as they are, responsible for the deaths of thousands of anti Robert Mugabe campaigners in that country…
