Man jailed for saying ‘damn mosques’ in Abu Dhabi

by | 12th, January 2012

TO Abu Dhabi, where an engineer employed by the parks and recreation section of Abu Dhabi Municipality to create gardens around a mosque has been arrested for asking: “When will we finish with the damn mosques?” He has appeared before the Court of Misdemeanours and sentenced to one month in prison.

The engineer, frustrated by the project, committed his crime in a meeting. A colleague thought it right to tell the police.

The villain told the court:

“I said it out of concern for the project because I wanted it to be ready as soon as possible.”

The judge replied:

“So your keenness on completion drove you to curse [the mosque]?”

The man has appealed the ruling. The verdict will be announced on February 7.

This is Abu Dhabi, a place Britons actually want to go to on holiday.
