It doesn’t take half a brain to work out that they are down for a reason, even if the pedestrian gates are open (which I don’t think they should be, by the way – but that doesn’t excuse ignoring the road crossing warnings)…?
It is very easy to blame the railway company (to which I have no affiliation whatsoever) and they should indeed be looking to install footbridges, but this strikes me as a tragedy resulting from a lack of common sense. Or do we expect the railway/road management/state to wipe our backsides for us now as well?
